Kenya – The Abbas Project

Through colleagues at the United Nations HABITAT Agency, Dr. Steve and Rebecca Edwards were introduced to Mr. Joseph Rwigi, the headmaster at Ngunyumu Primary School. As their relationship with Joseph began to blossom and they learned more about the limited resources available to the school, Rebecca and Steve realized that meeting the needs of those students would take the effort of many people. Their vision was to create a company that would connect children and schools in dire need with people around the world who could help. Thus, the idea for The Abbas Project was born.

The Abbas Project is an initiative of Ignitus Worldwide as a preliminary model for the iLead21 program in a slum settlement. The Ngunyumu Primary School that is the beneficiary of The Abbas Project lacks the resources needed to create an empowering environment for their youth. Our goal with The Abbas Project is to provide the students at Ngunyumu Primary with opportunities to be leaders in their community through access to resources.
